This blues songstress, grammy nominee, Blues Hall of fame inductee and an inductee to the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame. She left the stage in the 1930′s to use her gift in her church. She returned to performing in the 1960s. At her peak she was compared with Ma Rainey, Alberta Hunter, and Bessie Smith. She passed away at the age of 88.
